Christmas Stocking Stuffers

As Christmas approaches, everyone starts pondering on the best Christmas gifts for their loved ones. However, what is even more challenging is finding a useful and wanted gift that fits into a stocking. This year we have taken up that burden from you. Check out these recommended items to stuff your Christmas stocking with.

The gallery below will bring you to the appropriate Amazon link. You can also read my recommendations on each item, so you can be sure you are getting your money’s worth!

Kenetrek Waterproof Boot Wax

Boot Wax seems like a boring stocking stuffer, but any hunter who’s sloshed through a day in soaked boots will love the stuff. Keeps boots healthy and alive longer, too. A jar of Kenetrek wax would be a fun stocking stuffer hint as to what’s in that big box under the tree…

Kenetrek Gaiters

I have a love/hate relationship with these Gaiters. I hate when I can’t find them in the closet (or did I leave them in the pack? Under the truck seat?) I hate putting them on. But I love HAVING them on. Gaiters keep boot uppers and pant cuffs dry, but also keep weed seeds and gravel out. In deep snow and cold they seem to add 10-degrees to the temperature.

Tract Binocular

If your Christmas stocking is big enough, fill it with a Tract Toric binocular. Pick your favorite power. They all offer incredibly sharp, bright, high contrast views at “best buy” prices. Tract sells direct, avoiding the “middle man” markups. I’ve compared several Tract binoculars against the finest brands in the world and they measure up!

Lightning Strike Fire Starter

This is a tool you probably won’t use often, but when you do it will save your life. The ability to kindle a fire is essential to a woodsman or woman. I always carry butane lighters, but they don’t always work. The Lightning Strike does. One strike of the magnesium rod funnels 4,000-degree F. flame to provided tinder that burns hot to dry out kindling and get that emergency fire crackling. Ah!

Smartwool Socks

Smartwool socks are one of the hunter’s best friends. By using high quality Merino wool blended with some stretch materials, Smartwool gives your feet a cushioning covering that retains heat even when wet. Durable, too. Mine have lasted for years. And they don’t sag or bunch.

Custom Walnut Cartridge Box

This is what you get the hunter who has everything! A finely crafted, beautiful walnut cartridge box as striking as the finest walnut stocked rifle. This is the kind of thoughtful gift every hunter/shooter will appreciate. Custom Engraved names, logos, etc. Mention RSO when you order and get 5% discount.

Movo Deluxe Essentials DSLR Camera Cleaning Kit

Even if you don’t work with cameras, you’ll probably  need a good lens cleaner to keep your binocular, riflescope, spotting scope, and rangefinder lenses clean. A thin film of dust over a lens reduces light transmission significantly and increases flare — the very things you spent good money to avoid. Keep it clean. Keep it bright.

Compass-Thermometer

I rarely check my watch when hunting, but I often consult a thermometer and compass. Brrr! How cold is it? This simple little mercury thermometer needs no batteries to tell you why you’re freezing your nose off. And the little compass should give you a reasonable idea of which way to go back to the fire. Hang one on your parka zipper, another on your pack.

Swiss Army Knife: The Huntsman

The most useful and used tool in my arsenal is a Huntsman model Swiss Army pocket knife. I wear mine in a belt sheath and use at least one of its tools every day. There are other models with more tools, but they get fat and bulky. the Huntsman has most of the blades I need without the bulk. Don’t laugh at the sawblade and scissors, either! Both work beautifully. I’ve sawn legs off elk and caribou, but most often limbs off trees.

Atsko Sno-Seal Pro-Tech Skin Cream

If you, too, suffer cracked finger tips while working outdoors AND you dislike the perfume of most slimy “skin softeners,” Pro-Tech Skin Cream could solve your problems.  With its natural bee’s wax base and unscented formula, Pro-Tech seals and heals without an oily, greasy feeling or residue.
