Photography with Ron Spomer

Wildlife photography, flower photography, landscape photography – it’s all nature photography to me. Outdoor people know a good thing when they see it, and it’s human nature to want to capture it. This is why kids bring bugs and frogs and rocks home, why hunters save antlers and pay taxidermists big bucks to preserve deer heads and flying pheasants.

Photography is another way to capture the often fleeting beauty of nature. My fascination with it started way back in the early 1970s when I set about to learn as much as I could about the natural world. That learning became more challenging and exciting and I spent more time afield because of my cameras. I found myself camera hunting 12 months of the year, capturing the wildlife and scenes I loved. A big mule deer in my viewfinder made me shake as much as much as one behind my scope reticle. It still does.
